Tanzania Social Services and Industry Workers Union (TASIWU) is a growing registered trade union, with Certificate of registration No. 014 issued on 08th June, 2001 pursuant to Section 48 (5) (b) of the Employment and Labour Relations Act. No. 6 of 2004 and Trade Union Act, 1998.
Head Office of the Union is located in Dar Es Salaam City in the United Republic of Tanzania.
Currently, the union has 5 zones throughout the Tanzanian mainland with potential membership of 6,668 representing formal and informal workers in services and Industrial Sectors.
TASIWU is affiliated to the National center exists to our country known as Trade Union Congress of Tanzania (TUCTA) and at international level the union is still in the process of affiliating to StreetNet International, BWI and other global Unions.
TASIWU as a new independent workers union is currently operating in a new environment dominated by the free market economy. The union organize its members from former and informer sectors such as Domestic services, catering services, cooperative union, transport and communication, private hospitals and education services, social services, industry, special economic zones industry, plantations and agriculture sectors in which situated within zones along the mainland of Tanzania.
In building and enhancing co-operation and solidarity among Unions, TASIWU is affiliate by the National Centre, Trade Union Congress of Tanzania (TUCTA) . Also, the union has a vision of joining in the national and international network of trade unions, global unions such as ITF, UNI, PSI, BWI, IUF, INDUSTRIALL and Streetnet International and other entities that deals with safeguards the welfare of workers.

TASIWU Members are composed from nine (9) main Sectors namely Informal Workers and Cooperative Societies, Public Health, Education, Private Security, Agriculture, Education, Transportation and Communication, Construction and Building, Hotels.
In the previous year TASIWU has made considerable progress in the field of Recruitment, Training, Collective Bargaining etc. In the years ahead, TASIWU plan to strengthen and promote union activities and services to our members. The union will play a very major role in strengthening our structures and making TASIWU the best in terms of services delivery to our members.
